I am sure, and happy, that our foreign foes are looking at the recent celebrations on the Mall, and saying Whiskey Tango Foxtrot?

Think of May Day in any Communist Kleptocracy: armed lines of marching men, in squadrons passing by. And those lads know close order drill.

Easter in Ireland: After Mass, ditto. Hatin' on the Brits.

England: Whitehall and the extended laying of wreaths. Remembering the honorably conquered.

Hell, even the French have military parades on July 14.

On Independence Day, anywhere else in the world, it's tanks and guns and fighting men, parading down the street. Victories and defeats honorably remembered. Here, we skip pas the founding fathers and dispose of the vets in about 15 minutes, and then get stuck into a couple of hours of Sesame Street led by Barry Manilow.

That feels really decadent.
