Let's face it, this whole global warming/climate change thing is about keeping the peasants in their proper place.
When I was a kid, I knew people who'd never, in their entire lives, been more than 10 miles away from their home. They simply never had the means, nor the inclination to do so.
The carbon tax bullshittery being fosited on us by our elites is another way to reduce or freedom of movement to the same level - about that of a medieval peasant.
