I am proud to be Irish. Any nation that produces writers who can reduce a millenium of suffering to irony ought to actually be ruling to globe.

Thinking about that, I vaguely remember reading some blurb about how 70 million people worldwide claim Irish ancestry. That's about 1% of humanity. Which, given that Ireland has a population of about 5 million on an island of 32,000 square miles at 52 degrees north latitude, is massive impact.

Which, you know, is how it should be. For the Irish. God bless them.
