Cynthia McKinney offers a non-apology apology.

It's a very Clintonesque statement. On its face, it's got all the right words, but when you read it closely, what does it really say?

She expresses "sincere regret about the encounter with the Capitol Hill Police". OK, sure. Because all right-thinking Americans say anyone who assaults a police officer needs to be tasered, maced, and handcuffed, she regrets the fact that she got caught obviously getting away with assault on a police officer.

"There should not have been any physical contact in this incident." OK, but contact by who, on whom? Read closely, she could be saying the Capitol Hill police officer should have left her alone.

And this: "I am sorry that this misunderstanding happened at all and I regret its escalation. And I apologize." Again with the regret. And apologize to whom? For what?

Oh, the Democrats have learned so well from Bill Clinton.
