Sometimes you just have to pity Palestinian stupidity.

First, Arafat approves the killing of Americans who've come to the Gaza Strip to hand out scholarships. To send a message to America.

America confirms that Arafat approved the killings and goes on record as no longer supporting a Palestinian "right of return" to Israel.

Then, Israel takes out the new leader of Hamas, and the US decides not to condemn the action. That's enough for the Palestinians: it's Bush's fault. God forbid they consider how many Israelis they've killed with their homicide bombers. Maybe they're getting advice from the Kerry campaign.

A sign that the Isrealis are winning: the new leader of Hamas is not advertising his identity. Never mind, he'll be known soon enough.

Finally, after decades of appeasement, the US finally has a President who understands that accomodating Palestinian demands only leads to more violence. Give him four more years to get the policy fully established, and we could actually see Middle East peace in the next 50 years.

Palestinian leaders are going to have to realize that if they threaten Israel with extinction, they'll get an Israeli rocket for payment and no American condemnation. I think also that eventually they'll have to realize that if they threaten the US, it'll be an American rocket that sends them to their 72 virgnis.

Meanwhile, the EU tries to have it both ways.
