Great weekend!

On Friday I got home from work at about 1830. Feeling a bit knackered, I was thinking of simply retiring. Then, quite by accident I can across this, playing at the Ferst Center as Georgia Tech. Well, Mrs. Livininamerica and I promptly hopped into the LivinInAmericaMobile, plunged into traffic, and arrived at the performance 30 minutes before the opening. $70 and two tickets later, we were happily ensconsed in row "A" (up front, for those of you in Rio Linda), and immersed ourselves in a one-man, fifty-voice, Simpsons take on MacBeth.

After the show we went over to a bar called "Kommune," in the same complex as Bacchanalia.

Saturday morning I got my brakes fixed at Dekalb Tire. I love this place. No bullshit, totally efficient, great service.

Saturday afternoon, Mrs Livininamerica and I went over to Brio in Buckhead. We chatted the afternoon away over salad, lasagna, and chardonnay.

Sunday morning we went for a walk over at Chastain Park. Everyone knows about the amphitheatre, but there's also a golf course, a horse park, a swimming pool, an arts center, and a walking trail. Towards the end of our walk we came upon a lost dog. We quickly found his home (thank God for tags) and, in the absence of his owners, left him with a neighbour. We left a little note and a message on their answering machine. They called back later in the day to say "thanks."

To reward ourselves for a good deed done we headed over to Fado in Buckhead for breakfast. Mrs Livininamerica had some sort of girly thing involving spinach. I had the full Irish breakfast. The rashers left something to be desired, but the black puddin' was all I hoped it could be.

On the way home, we stopped at Borders and I bought The Late Show and Cerebus. Barbarian aardvarks call to something deep inside me.

After showers and siestas (it was a *big* breakfast) we went to the Dogwood Festival at Piedmont Park. Stopping first at the Park Tavern for reinforcement, we admired the Chryslers on display: the PT Cruiser Convertible and the 300 C. Car porn, pure and simple.

After a circuit of the park, and a couple of small artsy purchases, we headed over to the James Joyce Pub in Decatur for a couple of beers and some of Atlanta's best fish and chips.

I slept like a baby last night, sprang out of bed at 0430 to go to the gym and start paying for the weekend's excesses, and got to work bright-eyed, bushy-tailed, and Starbucks in hand, at 0720.

By Thursday, however, I'm sure I'll feel a bit like this.

By then it'll almost be the weekend again. Woohoo!

UPDATE: I have Friday off: it's Good Friday.
