America is not about to go down the tubes.

In fact, the future looks pretty bright.

Yeah, right.

So what part of this is unclear?

I'm sure it's just for tax purposes....

The President's SOTU speech was brilliant. His best ever. Best moment: when the mother of the dead soldier hugged the Iraqi woman. Emotional moment. The sort of thing America lives for.

Syria, Iran, Egypt, and Saudi Arabia are now on notice. Social Security will be reformed.

We have a President who has solid backing from the Congress and the people, who's willing to spend political capital, and has already pulled the trigger a couple of times. And just said he intends to pull it a few more.

The next four years are going to be a lot of fun.

Enough said.

Now, the Democrats.

Here are Harry Reid and Nancy Pelosi.

Reid:

First thought: They lost Daschle, and replaced him with a guy who's even a WORSE speaker. What the hell is it with these soft-spoken, effeminate, Democrat leaders? Estrogen-whipped?

Second thought: A Marshall Plan for America?!?!?!!?!!!!!! WTF, over? So, we're already in trouble over spending ("birth tax:" $36,000, and rising), and the solution to the problem is.....MORE SPENDING?!?!?!!? Totally incoherent.

Third thought: Bush is proposing a reform to Social Security that's modeled on what happened in Chile. Where people can retire with higher incomes than they had when they were working. Roulette, my ass.

Fourth thought: "Groundhog Day?" Wow! He's lost it. Apart from anything else, that movie talks about making mistakes UNTIL YOU GET IT RIGHT. AND SUCCEED. It's an allegory, Harry, and your reference undermines everything you've said to that moment.

Damn. Just damn.

Pelosi:

First thought: Ugh! That face lift gives her a Munch look (think "The Scream"). I can't get past that. I keep staring in fascination at what surgery and botox hath wrought. Bury me with my scars on display. Please.

Second thought: Ah, national security. Yes, the Democrats are totally believable on this one issue, beyond all others.

Third thought: The election means nothing, we're still in danger, get the troops out, publish a timetable.....wait......isn't this (hic!) Teddy Kennedy's speech from some days ago?

Fourth thought: New G.I. Bill? More spending?

Fifth thought: Oh yeah, Civil Liberties, we like those.

Summary of the Democratic response:

Reid is Daschle on 'ludes. Pelosi looks hysterical just sitting still.

Spending's too high, so spend more. Reform nothing, especially health care and social security, which are just FINE, despite all the evidence. Iraq's a mess, we're still in danger, bring the troops home, BUSH LIED, PEOPLE DIED. Spend more. Thank you. Good night.

The SOTU speech was full of grand themes and great moments. The Democratic response was ankle-biting. At best.

Losers.

If I take this Margaret Carlson piece correctly, Hillary is definitely going to run for President, and will do so to make sure Bill's sexually assaulting foreigners, rather than Americans.

"Duff beer for me,
 Duff beer for you
 You have a Duff
 I'll have one too..."

Or not.

My non-Representative, Cynthia McKinney, has completed her Congressional duties for the year.

She'll be back in Georgia for the rest of the year, telling her constituents the most efficient way to bleed social welfare programs.

When she's not supporting the hip-hop "movement", that is.

Oh DeKalb County, how I weep for you.

Beer! The cause of, and solution to, all of life's problems.
